Academic Board
Members of the academic board are responsible for the conduct of the schools' examinations, for the marking of all examination papers and external moderation. We are also in the process of having our training pathway externally verified and approved by a leading University.
Officers
Mark Wake BSc, MHS - Course Co-ordinator and owner

After leaving University in 1983, Mark worked for a number of chemical companies in a variety of production, managerial and planning roles. In 1998, he became interested in people development to improve productivity and reduce staff turnover and managed major improvements in his plants. He took his first hypnotherapy training course in 1999 to study language patterns and motivation and was facinated by the potential he saw. He left employment in 2002 to become a full time trainer and therapist and he and his wife Lisa merged their respective businesses into a new limited company in 2004. With his wife Lisa, they bought CTIS in 2006 to expand and develop the portfolio of courses available and changed the name to Awaken School to denote the awakening of the potential of the school and trainers. Mark is an INLPTA certified trainer and a UKCP accredited psychotherapist, his style is 'hands-on' and runs the Hypnotherapy & NLP Practitioner training courses.
Lisa Wake BSc, RGN - Owner

Lisa first trained as a nurse before moving into a variety of health management roles to improve things on a wider scale. She joined a training organisation as a self-employed consultant and trainer in 1997 before leaving to set up her own training consultancy in 2003. In 2004, she was joined by her husband Mark and they turned the consultancy into a limited company. Lisa has been at the forefront of statutory regulation, firstly as Training Standards Officer and then Chair of NLPtCA followed by her roles as Vice-Chair and then Chair of UKCP from 2003 to 2007. An INLPTA certified trainer and UKCP accredited psychotherapist, Lisa's style is inductive and expansive and she teaches the NLP Master Practitioner and Advanced Patterns programmes.

Helen Drake BSc, DipM, PGDHP, UKCP
Helen comes from a business background with her early career spent within the international Diplomatic Community. This was followed by her holding senior management positions in two multi-disciplinary consulting organisations. In 2002 she left corporate life and set up her own company coaching and training in business. This soon grew to embrace running NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner programmes. She also runs a growing and often busy private therapy practice. In recent years, Helen has become known for her warm participative training style, packed full of fascinating stories and interesting case studies. She teaches the NLP Practitioner Programme in Birmingham.
Marion Dunlop PhD, BA, RGN, Cert Ed, PGDHP, MNHPC, MISMA, UKCP
Marion originally trained as a registered nurse and midwife before completing a degree in psychology and applied social sciences. Since then she has worked in voluntary sector care management and further and higher education lecturing in social sciences, psychology and education as well as maintaining her nurse registration. She has specialised in the study of work based training particularly within the health and social care professions and developed this interest further by completing a research degree in 1998. Marion has been practising as a therapist for over 10 years and offers stress counselling, clinical hypnotherapy, hypno-psychotherapy, life and performance coaching and reiki healing and training. Marion runs the FCH programme in Lancaster
